Proclaim Day is coming!

Any questions you may have about Proclaim Day that isn't covered may be updated on this living document link

Overview

On Friday, August 5th, every child will be giving a presentation in front of friends and family. They will choose their favorite unit (or maybe just a favorite lesson) and give a presentation on what was learned and why it’s a favorite. This is a relaxed event that is meant to feel like a celebration party.

What You Need to Know

This is the one and only task Bible Bee asks hosts to make sure they do. It is very important to the mission of this study. I enjoy all the other things I try and do, but this one event is the only thing I am committed to doing.

  • The event is on August 5th and will be held at my home church building in Mundelein. The address is located in the Eventbrite link (also provided below). This is the Friday directly after our last Wednesday meeting. If you typically finish lesson 5 on a Friday, you will have 6 days until Proclaim Day to prepare.
  • Bring friends! Use this link (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2022-bible-bee-proclaim-day-tickets-382615482207) to tell people about coming to the event.
  • Because of how I structure the event, Dads are especially encouraged to come. Each child will be presented with an award for doing the study through Proclaim Day. I prefer that these awards will be handed to them by their fathers. No speech or anything else is required by the parent (dad) except the ability to bestow the provided award and to show pride through facial expressions and/or a warm embrace 😉.
  • Your child will be expected to give a presentation as part of this event. Details are below.

Presentation Guidelines

Know that the following are guidelines and not strict rules. Tweek for your specific needs and age. I understand that public presentations are scary. That's one of the benefits of doing this on THIS day. We have nothing but love and support to build each child's boldness with the scripture.

Primary Division

  • Choose at minimum your favorite lesson.
  • Talk about what that lesson is about and why it is that you liked it so much.
  • Include in your presentation the scripture verse that you learned during that unit week. It would be most fantastic if you can do it from memory.
  • No props or visuals are necessary, but if it helps your child, go ahead.
  • Please no more than 5 minutes beyond the time it takes to say the verse that goes with the lesson(s). In other words: scripture verse + 5-minute presentation. Your child won't be held to a strict timer, but we do have a total of 7 people. If it's shorter than 5 minutes, that's perfectly fine!
  • Outlines are fine 🙂

Junior Division

  • Choose at minimum your favorite unit to summarize. It could be either the Navigate or Explore or both.
  • Talk about what those lessons are about and why it is that you liked it so much.
  • Include in your presentation the scripture verse(s) that you learned during that unit week. It would be most fantastic if you can do it from memory.
  • Keep presentations to between 5 and 8 minutes.
  • Outlines are fine.

Invite Friends!

How?

Using the link provided, email or text your child’s spiritual influences, family, and friends to Proclaim Day. You have worked directly with your child or have observed their hard work throughout the summer. Your personal Invite conveying your excitement and pride is what will motivate them to come. You may also include some of the following info if you feel it necessary:

  • National Bible Bee developed a Summer Study to help cultivate not only a heart to memorize God’s Word but also to understand and apply Scripture to daily life.
  • National Bible Bee was founded in 2009 with the mission to engage young people in the memorization and study of God’s Word and provide opportunities to proclaim it through local, national, and broadcast competitions.
  • The Summer Study is an 8-week study where participants are encouraged to explore Scripture through reading, memorization, application, and activities.

Gifts?

If your child's friends/ family want to present gifts to the child they came to see, I would ask that those be presented outside of the event or in the parking lot. If anyone wants to honor ALL the participants, that will be fine.
